Product description

The BLUETTI RV5 is a compact power hub that forms the core of a modern 48 V energy system. In a single housing it combines an inverter, AC charger, charge controller and DC-DC charger. Together with a 48 V battery such as the BLUETTI B4810, it becomes a single central unit from which you control the entire electrical installation in a motorhome, expedition vehicle, boat or small off-grid system.

What does the RV5 do?
The RV5 converts 48 V from the battery into 230 V for your wall sockets and into 12 or 24 V for the DC onboard system. At the same time, it brings together all charging sources. Shore power or a generator, solar panels on the roof and the vehicle’s alternator all feed into the RV5 first and are then used to charge the battery. Instead of working with separate chargers, inverters and relays, you use one central unit that handles the entire energy management.

AC output
On the 230 V side, the RV5 delivers up to 5,000 W of continuous output power, enough for typical loads in a modern motorhome or off-grid installation. Think of air conditioning, fridge, boiler, cooktop or power tools, as long as the total load stays within the specifications. Via the AC input you can draw up to 5,000 W from a campsite hook-up, household socket, generator or suitable charging station. The RV5 then charges the battery and can supply your AC loads at the same time. If the mains fails, it switches over to battery operation within milliseconds, so connected equipment will usually hardly notice the transition.

Charging from solar and alternator
For solar energy, the RV5 has two MPPT inputs with a built-in charge controller. You connect your solar panels directly here. Together, the inputs support up to around 3,600 W of solar (2 × 1,800 W within 12–50 V per input), suitable for flexible panels on the roof of a motorhome or boat as well as fixed panels in an off-grid setup. In addition, the RV5 can draw energy from the vehicle’s alternator via a DC input. While driving it then acts as a DC-DC charger to the 48 V system, taking the starter battery and alternator load into account.

12/24 V onboard system
On the DC side, the RV5 provides a stabilised 12 or 24 V output for the onboard system, for example for lighting, water pump, fridge, ventilation and USB outlets. The output is designed for high currents, so multiple consumers can be supplied at the same time. In combination with a distribution panel with fuses and switches, you can build a neat, clearly laid-out DC installation powered from a single central 48 V battery, for example with one or more B4810 batteries.

Installation
The RV5 is designed to make installation as straightforward as possible. The main connections are grouped together: battery, AC input, AC output, PV inputs and DC output. During initial commissioning you set a few key values, such as the desired DC output voltage (12 or 24 V) and the maximum current you want to draw from the AC input. After that, the electronics in the RV5 monitor voltages and currents and keep the battery within safe limits.

Working together with the B4810
In an RVSolar 48 V Power System, the RV5 works closely together with the B4810. Via a CAN connection, the power hub and the battery’s Battery Management System continuously exchange information about state of charge, currents and limits. Based on this, the RV5 determines how fast to charge or discharge and which source makes most sense at that moment: grid, solar, alternator or generator. Via Bluetooth and the app you can see at a glance how much power is coming in, what you are using and how full the battery is. This makes the RV5 the central power hub of the system, with the B4810 as the central battery behind it.
